Let us pray...
Transfigure us, O Lord, that with Jesus
we may ever seek to witness and minister in the world that surrounds
us. Help us to be both messengers and active participants in the
mission you give your church to speak and practice truth and hope in
the gift that is your world, for we seek to be both faithful
disciples and grateful stewards. In Christ's strong name, we pray.
Amen. (Pr. George Handley, March 2003) |
The
UNITED LUTHERAN APPEAL is a joint effort of the Metropolitan
Washington DC Synod and the following institutions and agencies:
Caroline Furnace Camp,
Community Family Life Services,
Fellowship Square Foundation,
Good Shepherd Housing Foundation,
Lutheran Social Services/National Capital Area,
Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg,
Lutheran Volunteer Corps,
Mar-Lu-Ridge Lutheran Camp,
N Street Village, Inc.,
National Lutheran Home,
Roanoke College,
Southeast Ministry and
Transitional Housing Corporation. |
| After over two years planning, at its June 2002 Assembly, the
Metropolitan Washington D.C. Synod approved the launching of an annual
appeal on behalf of these thirteen institutions and agencies either related to
the synod or its congregations. It covers a large range of educational,
outdoor and social ministries. The purpose of the Appeal not
only is to provide a once a year coordinated ingathering of financial
support for these ministries, but also to educate congregations and
their members concerning the broad range of ministries active on their
behalf throughout the synod. Ministry is multi-faceted as the people of
God seek to be faithful to the Biblical mission which is ours as
followers of Jesus Christ. The Appeal seeks to assist us all in this
mission and ministry.
